1-1 Private Lessons ( 1 lesson = 60 minutes)
Dive straight into personalized learning with guidance from our expert teachers. Private lessons allow students to join in on lesson planning and learning objectives with consultation from the teacher to create a completely unique study plan. Each lesson is designed to maximize your time with the teacher which allows you to get immediate feedback and precise correction leading to rapid improvement. Our focus on communication will give students in private lessons plenty of speaking time which helps you to feel more comfortable with the language and ready to face any situation with confidence. All materials and resources will be provided.

Our flexi-study 10 hour course gives you the opportunity to gently ease your way into language learning. This course is a great choice for people who want to boost their Spanish level but still have time to enjoy our island paradise. We strongly recommend adding on our exclusive activities to this course to maximize your time here in La Gomera. All materials and resources will be provided.
COURSE SUMMARY

Semi-intensive 20 hours (1 lesson - 60 minutes)
Our semi-intensive 20 hour course is our most popular course that gives students enough time in the classroom to really progress with plenty of free time to add on activities or review class notes in the shade of palm trees. Students will improve by practicing reading, writing, listening and speaking skills with lots of island specific cultural references. All materials and resources will be provided.

Intensive 30 hours (1 lesson = 60 minutes)
Our intensive 30 hour course is the best choice for students who want to dedicate their time to significantly improve in all areas including reading, writing, listening and speaking. Students will gain a better understanding of the language with plenty of references to La Gomera’s rich cultural heritage. All materials and resources will be provided.

Island Learning has been developed with our unique learning style that combines real life situations and practical lessons to help our students achieve communication fluency quicker. Our courses use La Gomera’s heritage and cultural as a gateway to learning Spanish which builds a richer connection to the language. We believe students are best motivated to learn and activate new language when they are given real life situations to interact with. This is why our Island Partners are key to our courses as extra activities in an area of your interest will provide opportunities to speak with local Native speakers and to use new language immediately. Our objective is for students to finish a course feeling more confident in their language abilities and to be able to use functional language in everyday situations.
Our Levels
Beginner
Learn how to introduce yourself, ask basic questions and exchange simple information. Build your vocabulary for commonly used expressions, use both present and past base tenses.
Students can expect to study for 3 weeks at this level if studying the intense course or 4 – 6 weeks in the semi-intensive courses.
Lower Intermediate
Students will improve their writing skills and become familiar with a wider range of conversation skills. Speak more fluently about a variety of topics in different situations and give your opinion as well as brief explanations about events and personal experiences. Travel more confidently interacting with Spanish speakers in an effective and correct manner.
Students can expect to study for 8 weeks at this level if studying the intense course or 9 – 10 weeks in the semi-intensive courses.
Elementary
Speak about daily routines, familiar tasks such as shopping or ordering a meal, describe actions in the past and future tenses. Participate in simple direct conversations about every day topics.
Students can expect to study for 5 weeks at this level if studying the intense course, or 5 – 7 weeks in semi-intensive courses.
Upper Intermediate
Understand complex texts, speak correctly using a wide range of grammatical structures and tenses. Participate in specific conversations about technical or abstract topics. Students at this level will be able to communicate quite naturally with a high degree of fluency.
Students can expect to study for 10 weeks at this level if studying the intense course or 11- 13 weeks in the semi-intensive courses.
Advanced
This level is for students who have an advanced level of Spanish. They are able to speak fluently and spontaneously without hesitation to find the correct word or expression. An excellent command of a wide use of language suitable to academic, professional and specific social settings. Be able to produce well-structured, clear and detailed writings for a variety of audiences.
Students can expect to study for 12 weeks at this level if studying the intense course or 13 – 15 weeks in the semi-intensive courses.
Proficiency
Function with a high degree of accuracy in all situations with ease. Students who have completed this level will appear most closely to Native speakers reading, writing, listening and speaking with precise fluidity in any situation.
Students can expect to study for 14 weeks at this level if studying the intense course or 15 – 17 weeks in the semi-intensive courses.
